Zachary Verhulst

Zach Verhulst is a passionate advocate for the power of design to strengthen communities and improve quality of life. In his leadership role, he is responsible for supporting the health and well-being of both his organization and its people while championing transparency, trust, equity and design excellence in every aspect of practice.

Believing that thoughtful design helps people work smarter, learn better, connect deeper and live healthier, Zach is committed to creating spaces that support thriving communities and a prosperous future. His dedication to design leadership has earned significant professional recognition, including AIA Grand Rapids' 2019 Young Architect of the Year and selection to the Grand Rapids Business Journal's "40 Under 40" in 2019, 2022 and 2023. He also served on the 2022 AIA National Task Force on the Framework for Design Excellence.

Zach remains deeply involved in community service through multiple nonprofit and civic boards, helping connect people to the transformative impact of architecture. A proud graduate of Grand Rapids Public Schools, he holds both a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a Master of Architecture from Lawrence Technological University, along with executive education in finance from Harvard Business School.

A lifelong Westsider, Zach enjoys spending time with his wife, Anna, and their three daughters, often at Millennium Park, on the golf course or enjoying music with family and friends.
